Welcome to Professional Clinical Wills

We take care of you and your practice in times of need

We give you peace of mind

Professional Clinical Wills gives you peace of mind knowing that should the unfortunate happen, and you are no longer able to work, your clinical practice will be taken care of. Whether this is a temporary or permanent closure, it will be carried out thoughtfully, with empathy, and most importantly, in the way you want it to be executed.

BACP, UKCP, NCIP, and the BABCP, from the 1st of September 2023, require all practitioners registered with them to have a Professional Clinical Will in place. Arrangements can be put in place with colleagues, but your colleagues may also be feeling the loss. At a time when they are grieving, can they really do the best by you in closing down your practice?

Professional Clinical Wills is independent and therefore can focus on your practice at times when you cannot. We are professional and experienced within the therapeutic world. We know how to communicate with clients, what to do if there are risk, or safeguarding issues. Importantly, we will have worked with you to establish who you might like to refer clients onto and how you would like to be remembered.

There are so many elements to consider when closing down a private practice, not just notifying clients. You may rent an office, you will certainly have a tax return to complete, where do you advertise, what professional bodies and memberships need to be cancelled? These are all considered by Professional Clinical Wills and appropriate and tailored plans put in place.

How we provide the service

Questionnaire & consultation

Professional Clinical Wills guides you through the process of setting up your will. We have a detailed online questionnaire which you can complete in your own time. We will then have an online meeting to discuss any concerns you may have and to ensure Professional Clinical Wills has everything they need to execute your will.

Storing & updating your will

Your clinical will is stored electronically using bespoke software and only you and Professional Clinical Wills have access to your confidential information. Reminders will be sent at agreed intervals for you to update your will or you can access your will whenever you wish as you will have constant access to this document.

Security & confidentiality

Data security and confidentiality has been the main focus of how Professional Clinical Wills set up their services. Using bespoke software with robust security we are prioritising the safety of your information. Professional Clinical Wills is Data Security and Data Protection trained as well as being a member of the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Our fees & contract
What are your fees?

There is a set-up fee of £250 which includes your first year’s subscription. From the second year payment is £10 a month or £100 for the year.

What does the fee include?

Once set up, your annual/monthly fee is all you will pay.

In the event of your death, or incapacitation, your professional clinical will is activated by our Professional Executor, a UKCP registered Psychotherapist, who will carry out your wishes.

In the normal course of events there will be no extra charge to your estate by Professional Clinical Wills to execute your will. However, if your practice is over 25 clients and supervisees a fee of £30 per hour will be charged to your estate for additional time needed notifying clients and supervisees.

Payment in advance by therapy clients

For practitioners that take payment in advance of sessions we recommend you provide a fund to Professional Clinical Wills for use in the event of activation of your will to reimburse clients that have paid for sessions that cannot take place. The amount of the fund will be agreed between you and Professional Clinical Wills.

Subscription renewal

Annual payments will be made on 1 September for the coming year. If you join at any other time paying annually then your fee for the second year will be pro rata, and at year 3 you will pay the full subscription from 1 September.

If you choose to leave

If you choose to leave and have paid for an annual subscription then we ask that you complete that current year and leave at the end of August. If you are paying monthly then we require 1 months’ notice.
